The Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) exists to improve the lives of Ontario’s estimated 4 million caregivers; ordinary people who provide physical and/ or emotional support to a family member, partner, friend, or neighbour. OCO provides caregivers with one point of access to information, services and supports that empower and help enable caregivers to be successful in their role. OCO works in collaboration with caregivers, health care providers and other organizations to address the challenges that caregivers face so that all caregivers – regardless of age, condition, or geographic location – have access to the support they need.

This new role represents an exciting opportunity to lead a project that will bring together insights and evidence to help inform system change and improve the lives of caregivers across Canada.
Mobilizing Research to Advance Caregiver Needs is a one-year partnered initiative involving the National Caregiver Collaborative – a group of provincial and young caregiving organizations that support family (unpaid) caregivers across Canada. The Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) is playing a lead role to facilitate this project to achieve the following outcomes:
- Strengthen capacity of caregiver organizations to leverage research to inform system change and advance solutions for caregivers in the healthcare system
- Deepen understanding of research evidence related to caregivers and caregiving to enhance planning, decision-making and quality improvement of caregiver programs and services
- Build capacity for caregiver organizations to work more effectively with the research community in addressing caregiver needs

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Lead, Strategic Partnerships and Innovation, the Senior Project Lead will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and manage a multi-stakeholder project plan with measurable goals and timelines.
- Ensure delivery of goals on time and on budget, mitigating risks as required.
- Convene and lead a working group (including caregivers and representatives from the National Caregiving Collaborative) to co-design and guide project deliverables, maximizing impact and value for each organization and the caregivers they serve.
- Coordinate meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action, follow-up items and logistics (in-person and virtual)
- Identify and prioritize caregiver-related topics or issues that could be addressed more effectively through evidence and research insights.
- Review, analyze and synthesize research evidence on topics or issues of high importance to caregivers, ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality of data
- Secure and manage contracted support to conduct evidence/literary reviews, research synthesis, or other project deliverables as required
- Create compelling evidence summaries and visual representations of research data in formats that are useful and actionable
- Build a common framework and decision-making guidelines for caregiver organizations to use when engaging with the research community
- Compile and develop resources to guide researchers on the engagement of caregivers in research
- Create a registry of Canadian researchers and research studies focused on caregiving that will enable the National Caregiver Collaborative to advance learning and cultivate research collaborations to address evidence gaps and caregiver needs
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of reporting requirements for OCO and the project funder, demonstrating project impact and outcomes.
- Other related projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience, including project management, health-related research, and/or knowledge mobilization
- Experience related to health care, social services, and the health care system and how it is evolving
- Goal-oriented, with a track record of delivering measurable impact and results
- Ability to develop and manage detailed operational plans and budgets with clear goals and timelines
- Skills in assessing information, utilizing critical thinking and synthesizing information from multiple sources
- Ability to work both independently and provide collaborative leadership and facilitation to cross-disciplinary teams that include senior-level leaders
- Ability to foster relationships with professionalism, diplomacy and trust
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
- Skilled in presenting and presenting complex information into clear, compelling communications
- Work experience involving the engagement of people with lived experience, ideally including co-design of initiatives or resources, is an asset
- Knowledge of caregiver needs, the role of caregivers in the health system and/or experience as a caregiver is an asset
- Experience reporting and ensuring compliance with project funder requirements is an asset
- Strong technical ability and proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications
Education
- Completion of a relevant post-graduate degree, ideally Masters relevant to healthcare.
