National Volunteer Week

The second week of April marks National Volunteer Week, an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteers at OCO.

We want to shine a light on volunteers that inspire us – recognizing and thanking those who lend their time, talent, and voices to making a difference in the caregiving community.

“I get great satisfaction out of helping others. It has given my self-confidence and a feeling of pride.” —Louise

“I have learned from my volunteering experience the impact and importance of providing a listening ear and personal experience that can help the caregiver feel seen, heard and supported.” —Donna

Every year, the OCO engages over 100 volunteers, caregivers who share their lived experience, insights and feedback through Caregiver Voices, the Caregiver Advisory Group and other working groups. This work shapes OCO programs, services and resource development. It also informs discussions with health care and workplace leaders. Caregiver volunteers also provide much needed peer support to other caregivers.

Right now, a caregiver in Ontario is wondering if they can keep going.
