SUMMARY:POWERFUL TOOLS FOR CAREGIVERS
DESCRIPTION:Caring for a family member or friend with a chronic condition can be physically\, emotionally\, and financially draining. This self-care educational program for family caregivers builds the skills caregivers need to take better care of themselves as they provide care for others. Caregiver participants learn to minimize the potentially negative impacts of caregiving in a six-week program emphasizing self-care and empowerment. \nThis FREE workshop consists of six 90 minute class sessions held once a week and led by experienced class leaders.  Class participants are given The Caregiver Helpbook to accompany the class and provide additional caregiver resources. \n6 Classes with a direct focus:\nClass #1:  Taking Care of You \nClass #2:  Identifying and Reducing Personal Stress \nClass #3:  Communicating Feelings\, Needs\, and Concerns \nClass #4:  Communicating in Challenging Situations \nClass #5:  Learning From Our Emotions \nClass #6:  Mastering Caregiving Decisions \nWorkshops are currently being offered virtually through Zoom. A personal computer\, laptop\, tablet or mobile phone with Internet access is required to connect to the workshop. If you are using a computer that does not have a microphone built in\, then you will need a microphone or headset. A week prior to the workshop\, instructions will be sent on how to join the group.
