SUMMARY:Supporting Caregivers and Their Evolving Worlds -National Caregiver Day Event
DESCRIPTION:Over 6 million Canadians balance work and unpaid caregiving to a family member\, friend\, or community member. Caregiving is a role that most are thrust into with little to no preparation or training and can come at great emotional\, financial and physical cost. \nJoin us on National Caregiver Day to learn more about Pallium Canada’s resources and activities that support the millions of Canadian caregivers. These resources are designed to support caregivers on their caregiving journey and to help strengthen the important social connections within their communities. Pallium Canada is grateful to the Arbor Memorial Foundation for their ongoing support of the Care Connections program. \n

SUMMARY:National Caregiver Day #CelebrateACaregiver
DESCRIPTION:Four million caregivers across Ontario provide an estimated 75 per cent of the care in our healthcare system. They play a critical role in providing physical\, emotional\, and mental support to family members\, partners\, and friends in need. While most caregivers have a positive outlook on their experience and a sense of fulfillment\, two-thirds admit they had no choice but to assume the work of caregiving. \nJoin us on April 4th on National Caregiver Day to celebrate family caregivers! We will be hosting a live event where we will hear from caregivers and their caregiving journey\, along with remarks from: \n• Jennifer McKelvie\, Deputy Mayor of the City of Toronto\n• Amy Coupal\, Chief Executive Officer of The Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO)\n• Samantha Peck\, Executive Director at Family Councils Ontario (FCO) \nThe live event will be followed by a demonstration of some of the resources available to caregivers. The shared resources belong to organizational partners as part of The Toronto Caregiver Collaborative Forum. \nThis event will be in English only.
