SUMMARY:Paediatric Mental Health Symposium - Feb. 10th
DESCRIPTION:The Ismaili Centre Toronto is hosting a symposium for parents and individuals with young family members to participate in a session on child and youth mental health on Sunday\, February 10th from 10 am to 3 pm at the Ismaili Centre Toronto\, 49 Wynford Drive\, North York. \nThe session will include world-renowned speakers who will be discussing the biological aspects of child and youth mental health\, as well as symptoms\, diagnoses\, and treatment approaches for common paediatric mental health conditions\, with a focus on taking the stigma out of talking about mental health. \nWe strongly encourage all parents and all individuals with young family members to participate in this session to learn more about this very important topic that impacts us all. According to Children’s Mental Health Ontario\, as many as 1/5 children and youth in Ontario will experience some form of mental health problem before adulthood\, and 5/6 of those children will not receive the treatment that they need. We know that 70% of mental health problems have their onset during childhood or adolescence\, and that Canada’s youth suicide rate is the third highest in the industrialized world. \nIn the face of statistics such as these\, the most important thing that parents and families can do is to arm themselves with the best information and education to enable them to identify children’s needs\, and to support and advocate for children experiencing mental health challenges. \nPlease share the link below with as many of your contacts as you think could benefit from this program. Tickets are only $15/person and a catered lunch will be included. Seats are limited\, so please be sure to register early. Information and registration are available at: https://www.iicanada.org/ict/Pediatric-Mental-Health-Symposium_2019Feb
