We know that this journey is equal parts rewarding and taxing. Finding balance and support to navigate this journey can seem difficult in between medical appointments, work and family commitments. That\u2019s precisely why the Ontario Caregiver Organization created the 1:1 Peer Support Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Experienced caregivers know best just how challenging being a caregiver can be is which is why connecting with another experienced caregiver who you can share in your experiences within a supportive environment that suits both of your schedules, is \u201cjust what the doctor ordered.\u201d Mentoring is one method of passing on lived experiences to support another person in an empowering and meaningful way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to <a href=\"https:\/\/ontariocaregiver.ca\/peersupport\/sign-up-for-a-peer-mentor\/\">sign up<\/a>, connect with a Peer Mentor volunteer by phone, and feel supported and understood as you navigate this journey together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What does the 1:1 Peer Support Program offer?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1:1 Peer Support Program is designed to offer emotional support to caregivers through being matched with a Peer Mentor volunteer who also has lived experience as a caregiver. Through Peer Mentorship, we hope you will find encouragement, validation, and support in your role as a caregiver. Our Peer Mentor volunteers can offer a listening ear and the ability to relate to your experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1:1 Peer Support Program is a telephone-based program where Peer Mentor volunteers and caregiver Participants set up phone call conversations when convenient for both parties.
