We understand how critical it is to have the support that you need on your caregiving journey. Peer Mentors are experienced caregivers who are here to help you by –

  • Providing encouragement, support and acceptance
  • Sharing in your lived experiences without judgement
  • Discussing your wellbeing and help you build a plan and a pathway to ensure your wellbeing stays top of mind
  • Providing support in developing coping strategies
  • Providing support to help you set goals that you would like meet
  • Be there for you

 

Selection Process

Peer Mentors are required to complete an initial screening/interview with the Ontario Caregiver Organization as well as:

  • Reference checks
  • a Criminal Records check
  • Successful completion of the Peer Mentor Training Modules before being matched with other caregivers who need their support

All Peer Mentors receive ongoing coaching and supervision by the Peer Support Program Lead.
