SUMMARY:Cultivating an Attitude of Gratitude in Caregiving by Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities
DESCRIPTION:In October\, we celebrate Thanksgiving\, a holiday where we pause and reflect on what we are grateful for in our\nlives. Gratitude is widely perceived as a key factor to wellbeing by different cultures and faiths. There is growing\nresearch in the relationship between the benefits of gratitude and caregiver coping. In this workshop\, we will\nexamine gratitude as one intervention for coping and provide time saving and practical exercises to foster\ngratitude. \nAbout the facilitator:\nBrenda Davie is the owner and operator of Silent Heroes. She is a freelance caregiver coach and workshop\nfacilitator supporting family caregivers who care for an adult or child living with a health condition or disability.\nShe currently writes monthly caregiving blogs for various caregiving websites. Brenda also works for a national\nnon-profit healthcare company as a virtual caregiver coach supporting sons and daughters of aging parents and\nis a caregiver coach for Veteran Affairs under their program The Caregiver Zone. As well\, Brenda is a volunteer\nco-lead for a provincially funded caregiver self management program.
