SUMMARY:A Moment for You: A Conversation Among Caregivers by March of Dimes Canada
DESCRIPTION:Let’s Celebrate National Family Caregiver Day!\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nFAMILY CAREGIVER EXPERIENCE\nA Moment for You: A Conversation Among Caregivers\n  \nREGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS REQUIRED \nOnline info will be sent upon registration \nTuesday April 6\, 2021 \n2:00 PM to 3:30 PM \n  \nMembers of parliament have voted unanimously to adopt the first Tuesday in April as National Caregiver Day.  So\, this April 6\, we invite you to join us for a virtual conversation of the incredible unseen contribution caregivers bring to their care recipients\, communities and the economy as a whole. \nWe will also be recognizing the generous support of The Ontario Trillium Foundation\, our MPP supporters and caregivers everywhere. \nIt’s not easy. Being a caregiver is challenging\, rewarding\, scary\, depressing\, draining\, frustrating\, funny\, sad and one of the most genuine acts of kindness there is. No matter the emotions you feel during this process\, we want you to know that you’re not alone. \nWhether you’ve become a caregiver gradually or due to a crisis by choice or by default\, we understand the incredible challenges you face and the sacrifice you are making. \n\n\n\n\nDonna Thomson is the co-author of “The Unexpected Journey of Caring: The Transformation from Loved One to Caregiver” and the author of “The Four Walls of My Freedom: Lessons I’ve Learned From a Life of Caregiving.” Donna is a patient and family advisor on health research and policy and she teaches family caregivers in Canada how to advocate for care in hospitals and in the community at McMaster University and at Huddol.com. She blogs regularly at THE CAREGIVERS’ LIVING ROOM (www.donnathomson.com). \n  \n\n\n\nWith the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation\, March of Dimes Canada’s After Stroke programs are bringing together caregivers\, caregiving experts\, and advocates to share their lived experiences and bright ideas. Help us transform the future of family caregiving.
