SUMMARY:Virtual - Powerful Tools for Caregivers
DESCRIPTION:Workshop Description \nCaring for a family member or friend with a chronic condition can be physically\, emotionally\, and financially draining. This online highly effective\, evidenced-based\, self-care educational program for family caregivers\, builds the skills caregivers need to take better care of themselves as they provide care for others. Use of computer camera and audio is required. Workshop is hosted using Zoom Platform. Zoom link will be sent via email prior to workshop date. \nIn the six weekly classes\, caregivers develop a wealth of self-care tools to: reduce personal stress; change negative self-talk; communicate their needs to family members and healthcare or service providers; communicate effectively in challenging situations\, recognize the messages in their emotions\, deal with difficult feelings; and make tough caregiving decisions. \nClass participants also receive a copy of The Caregiver Helpbook\, developed specifically for the class. \nPreregistration is Required \nRegister here: https://www.ceselfmanagement.ca/workshop?id=8888 \n

DESCRIPTION:Caring for yourself is one of the most important things you can do as a caregiver. But often\, caregivers prioritize the needs of others over their own. In this webinar\, Laura Jackson\, a registered nurse and healthcare leader will identify ways to care for yourself. You will learn:\n• The art and science of self-compassion and how to cultivate it in your life\n• Tips for making and developing your own routine to practice self-compassion and mindfulness\n• How to foster boundaries as a caregiver without guilt\, anger\, and resentment \nOur Speaker: Laura Jackson RN\, BScN\, MN\, CPMHN(C)\, NBC-HWC is a caregiver\, healthcare leader\, mental health\, and self-care advocate. She has worked in various roles\, including as a health and lifestyle coach\, mindfulness\, yoga and self-compassion facilitator\, wellness leader\, healthcare administrator and professional practice clinician. She currently works in mental health as well as maintains a private wellness practice.
