Program Lead – Mental Health and Wellbeing, Full Time

The Ontario Caregiver Organization (OCO) is recruiting a Program LeadMental Health and Wellbeing, with a primary focus on promoting the mental health and wellbeing of unpaid caregivers across Ontario.

We are looking for an experienced program lead with deep knowledge related to caregiving with respect to caregiver mental health and wellbeing, as well as mental health challenges/diagnoses for which some caregivers provide care and support. The incumbent will be committed to ensuring caregivers in Ontario have access to the resources, programs and services to support them that are reflective of their role and needs. Your approach is collaborative and creative and you thrive in engaging a broad spectrum of community-based stakeholders and networks. You are curious and innovative, an exceptional communicator and program planner able to build dynamic relationships both internally and externally. You have insight into the social determinants of health and the varied and complex role demanded of caregivers. You ask the right questions and help get the right work done. You are prepared to roll up your sleeves and be part of continuing to build a new organization. 

Role Summary

The Program Lead—Mental Health and Wellbeing, reports to the Director, Programs and Services.  They lead resource and program development, implementation and evaluation of tools related to the mental health promotion needs of all caregivers as well as the unique needs of caregivers caring for someone with a mental health challenge. Specific duties include:

  • Developing and implementing caregiver mental health promotion programs and resources for province-wide implementation
  • Working closely with the Director, other OCO team members, caregiver advisors and external experts to develop program offerings and promote program awareness and participation
  • Managing/facilitating the Mental Health Working Group, a group of experienced caregivers contributing to the prioritization, planning, and development of new mental health promotion resources/programs
  • Managing relationships with external mental health professionals involved in mental health support program/service delivery through OCO
  • Facilitating the co-design/co-creation of new programs and services with caregivers and other stakeholders as required
  • Monitoring and evaluating programs to assess impact and inform continuous improvement in the pursuit of achieving key organizational performance and client outcomes
  • Fostering collaboration and programmatic integration, and supporting community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, public health, or other relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years related experience in a similar role preferably in a non-profit, community health care, or social services setting
  • Proven experience in mental health promotion program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience facilitating Working/Advisory Groups
  • Strong commitment to and knowledge of current and emerging caregiver issues
  • Understanding of and commitment to community development
  • Demonstrated analytical, environmental scan, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications; experience moderating webinars an asset
  • Bilingual English and French an asset
